3 Tips on Improving your Baseball Swing

Hey guys I'm new here and have been a minor league player (Chattanooga Lookouts) for only a year. But I thought I would give some tips on improving your baseball swing :)

1. Your stance is the most important! This is a common mistake that most rookies have so if your body is not perfectly balanced then your swing will be off. So the basics of a stance is that your body should be in a triangular shape and your head has to be on the top of the middle space between your legs. Next you have to move your body so that it is in the same position but with your foot next to the back line of the box. That way you will have more time to look at the pitch.

2. Lined up Knuckles. This is also a really basic tip but it is the most essential as well. Having your knuckles lined up will allow your wrists to roll properly after hitting the baseball.

3. Watch your Swing. When I was young I had coaches watch my swing and tell me what was wrong but I never got to actually see it. Watching your swing will allow you to see what you are doing wrong. You can use a camera but the easiest is with an iPhone. Record your swing and use an app that can adjust the speed like [url=http://itunes.apple.com/app/speeduptv/id386986953?mt=8]SpeedUpTV[/url] and that allows you zoom up, and slow down your videos so you can accurately see any faults that you might have.

FRISCO, Texas, September 19, 2011 – As CEO of the largest company headquartered in Frisco, Texas, GENBAND’s Charlie Vogt today announced the creation of the Dallas Thunder Baseball Club and the first annual “Dallas Thunder Invitational” to be held Sept. 25 at Dr Pepper Ballpark, home of the Frisco RoughRiders, the Class AA affiliate of the Texas Rangers major league baseball club.

“Our goal has been to create a unique and advanced environment for North Texas baseball players where they can sharpen their skills in both sport and life while playing at the highest level of competition,” said Vogt. “Through my baseball and professional experience, we will teach and mentor the skills, desire and passion required to compete at the high school and college levels, as well as the core values that will serve them well in life. The Dallas Thunder Baseball Club was founded Vogt, who also serves as head coach for the club. A former NCAA Division I baseball player for Saint Louis University, Vogt began his youth coaching experience in 2003. He has been part of a winning tradition that has posted an 83% career winning percentage, ten tournament championships and two state championships. As President and CEO of Frisco-based GENBAND, he directs one of the fastest growing market leaders in the communications industry.

The “Dallas Thunder Invitation” will be a double-header that features three top 13U (13 and under) teams in the North Dallas area – The Dallas Thunder, Dallas Patriots and McKinney Marshals. Admission into the ballpark is free and concessions will be open to attendants during the entire event. The gates open at 10:00 a.m. with the first pitch at 11 a.m. as the Dallas Thunder take on the Dallas Patriots. The second game is scheduled to begin at 1:15 p.m., featuring the Dallas Thunder versus the McKinney Marshals. The double-header event will be open to baseball fans of all ages. RoughRiders mascot Deuce will also be in attendance for fan entertainment.

Donations will be taken during the event in support of Diamond Dreams, a charitable organization promoting safety in the game of baseball while supporting those who have lost loved ones in the game. In 2007, Mike Coolbaugh, brother of Texas Rangers Hitting Coach Scott Coolbaugh, was tragically killed when he was struck by a line drive during a Colorado Rockies minor league game. As an organization, Diamond Dreams operates a scholarship fund in his name and also has plans to build a baseball practice facility for Grapevine High School in honor of Coolbaugh and a GHS player who was killed during a batting practice accident.

Sports are often a numbers game. Who can jump the highest, run the fastest, score the most points, or hit the most home runs? Although some numbers are there for show, others can determine an athlete’s long term potential.

Every year rankings are released in an effort to evaluate high level prospects in the upper echelon of sports (high school, college, professional). These rankings determine things like scholarships, playing time, and millions of dollars in contracts.

With more than 50 million athletes playing youth sports, we often have parents asking us how does their child compare to other athletes we have seen in our careers? For more than a decade, we have been working toward giving those parents an informed and thorough explanation.

We at Global Scouting Bureau have finally developed a one-of-a-kind sports training standardized test (GSAT) for youth athletes ages 7-17 that quantifies every aspect of an athlete’s game and computes their score and ranking to determine their status as a future prospect.

The Global Scouting Aptitude Test (GSAT) uses more than 100 unique characteristics in an athlete’s throwing, fielding, hitting and pitching mechanics to compute a unique score for the user. Sam Carpenter of the D-BAT Mustangs and Troy Haugen of Heroes Baseball have collaborated to host a series of camps for youth baseball at Episcopal School of Dallas (ESD) 4100 Merrell Rd, Dallas Tx. 75229. These camps will run 4 days a week (Mon-Thurs) 9am to 12pm (sessions 1&2) and 12-3 (session 3). The camps will be for players 8 to 14yrs old. The first session will begin Monday June 6th for 13 and 14 year olds. Session two will begin June 13th for 11 and 12 year olds. Session three starts June 20th for 8 years thru 10 years old.

The staff will consist of coaches from the D-BAT Mustangs and the Heroes organizations, as well as current players from older teams within D-BAT Mustangs and Heroes respectively. The camp will be limited to 40 players per weekly session, 20 players from affluent families and 20 players from the inner city. The total cost of each session is $250 per player, which a portion of the registration fee sponsors an athlete from a disadvantaged or a less fortunate family.

This camp will partner athletes from diverse backgrounds, creating a cross-cultural exchange of various socio-economic environments. The camp emphasizes teaching proper baseball skills and fundamentals, and includes team and individual competitions. The value of this camp is the combination of quality instruction and the diversity of backgrounds present. October 2010 was a month that brought an out of imagination surprise for the baseball lovers when New York Yankees lost to Texas Rangers in the 2010 American League Championship Series. The defeat was a huge shock as Yankees is a team with highest all-time regular 2009 season winning percentage of .568 while Rangers have a record of lowest wining percentage. The Ranger’s victory was credited to their home field advantaged that they got at the ALCS venue Rangers Ballpark in Arlington. Yankees have previously faced Rangers 3 times in postseasons and Yankees won all the meetings. Yankees have 27 won out of 40 World Series appearances, the best winning record of any team in the baseball history. NYY have distinct record of playing against every National League pennant winner in the World Series except the Houston Astros and the Colorado Rockies.

October has gone and now the Yankees are gathering their spirits to revive their image as the next World Series Champions. The Yanks have now resigned their current manager Joe Girardi for a 3 year deal worth around $9 million and now Yankees general manager Brian Cashman confirms their main focus to resign the Yankees most historical player, Derek Jeter. Jeter has played his entire baseball career with Yankees and he is the most remarkable Yankee player and also the best shortstop player and his hiring is Yankees top agenda. Despite of the Derek’s age (36) factor both parties are confident to close the deal because Yankees already had lost its principal owner, former PA announcer and longtime Yankee icon, former player and manager (all passed away) during 2010.

After the unexpected loss against Ranger, critics are of the strong view that New York Yankees are in an absolute need to bring back their staring pitcher Cliff Lee whom they broke deal in July and traded him with Rangers. He is the first person to pitch three 10-plus strikeout games in just one postseason and he was extremely helpful to lead the Rangers towards World Series victory. However the rude behaviors of the Yankee supporters towards Lee’s wife Kristen Lee (they threw beer and spitted in her direction) have crushed the NYY chances to get back pitcher this off-season.

CC Sabathia, the most expensive pitcher in the history of New York Yankees underwent an arthroscopic surgery to correct a small meniscus tear in his right. The knee injury was an issue for the left hander for most of this season. It was the Yankees second season with CC and Yankees won all three of Sabathia's playoff starts.
